CUTS FROM BLACK SCREEN TO FIRST SHOT


EXT: Afternoon Autumn Day — Sunny day, clear skies, Blackheath common on a bench in the middle of the grass, no roads or cars too near. We see two boys, TOM and BRUCEY sitting on a bench having a conversation. When we cut to a close up shot of them we hear a text notification. 


IMESSAGE/WhatsAPP TEXT SOUND 


BRUCEY:

What's that Tommy boy? 


Jaw drops from Tom, excited look on his face


Tom:

Mate, you’ll never guess who’s just secured a date with Grace…


Brucey:

Oh shit! When is it? Where are you gonna go — What are you gonna wear mate?! 


Brucey is almost more excited than Tom 


Tom:

She said something about lunch (or cinema) tomorrow afternoon at like 12:30. God knows what I’m gonna wear but it has to be SICK! Dress to impress you know? 


Brucey:

As always mate, as always. You’re gonna be fine, what could go wrong?


Tom: You’re right, I got this!


Immediately after this sentence we see brucey pull a crate of beer from his bag, with an excited, slightly delirious smile across his face. We follow Tom's eyes to the beer to Bruceys face. 

Brucey:

Celebration time?

The boys cheers and crack open a beer. 

Sound is repeated a few times whilst cutting to a black screen


END OF ACT 1


ACT 2


Fade in, Alarm blaring, 11:54 in Alarm font text in middle of the screen. We see a birdseye shot of Tom in bed half dressed in the clothes from the night before, beer cans/bottles on the floor, hair messy, phone on bedside. 


Tom grabs his blaring alarm, turns it off and closes his eyes again. A moment passes before he realises the time. 


Tom:Ahhhh Fuck


We then go into a wide mid shot of Tom scrambling to get out of bed. Tom will be rushing and stumbling through his messy room desperately trying to get ready. 


We next see Tom in the bathroom, attempting to get ready quickly in the bathroom. He is knocking things over, spilling water,and toothpaste around mouth.


We then see Tom in his room getting dressed really frantically and quickly as well as checking himself out in the mirror. 


We see Tom leave his house, going to his bike and riding it down to the train station. 


His bike gets a flat tire.


Tom: 

FUCK!

He begrudgingly walks the bike home and then starts jogging to the station to catch the train. 


He gets to the train and then realises he doesn't have his zip card as it fell out whilst running. 


He finally gets on the train. Music comes in, relaxing upbeat songs. 


He gets off the train, checks the time and sees he is late. Yet again starting to jog to the date location, a cafe. 


He then receives a text saying 

‘Hey, you’re gonna hate me but… something came up and i cant see you anymore’ 

We see Toms reaction, and his aloneness in the cafe.

The Ellington Kid

Representations  Nathan is presented as a joker, 'jack-the-lad' character, perhaps from the east end of London. He's clearly somewhat streetwise as he hears the 'rumours' about The Ellington Kid (TEK). There is also the character of Beefy who is presented as having some similarities with Nathan as they are mates, however, he comes across as gullible. He acts as a way for the narrative to progress as he asks questions to Nathan about TEK. This leads on to TEK himself, who is presented as a victim and vulnerable to violence and the harsh life living in London's steets. In most shots he's seen fighting for his life and has an expression of vulnerability and almost childlike innocence. He is presented in such a way that the viewer feels sorry for him. The Gang, who stab TEK, are presented to be the 'villains' as well as being foolish (when they bicker after stabbing TEK). They come across as aggressive, arrogant and rude and when confronted with the Keba

Operator

    A call operator Laura is helping a woman named Gemma, who is in a burning house with her 3 year old son. Gemma goes upstairs when she is told not to and it appears she has gone, but comes back on the phone. Laura tells her to block the door with something to stop smoke getting in, and tries to calm Gemma down as the crew is on their way. The crew arrive and save Jamie, the son, and the call ends. Laura takes a moment to calm down, then picks up another call. -         Thriller – tension is used throughout, it appears at one point that Gemma is gone, she panics and coughs heavily, fear she is going to die -         Told completely through the perspective of the call operator – the short break at the end before she moves on to the next call shows the intensity of the job – the film also takes place solely at Laura’s desk in an office -         Laura acts as the calming figure on the end of the phone and guides Gemma to make sure she is safe, who is worrying about her son Jamie who is
